North Korean nuclear weapon test

Last Monday, we discussed the subject of North Korean nuclear weapons tests, which is considered the most important event in these days. Indeed, North Korea claimed on October 9 that they successfully carried out their first “nuclear test under secure conditions”.
We already discussed whether or not it is possible that North Korea is a threat of a new nuclear weapon race, and whether or not it is appropriate that US President George W.Bush called this a “provocative act”.
Personally, I think that we need to be lucid in two questions:
Firstly, is it trustworthy that the US government condemned the North’s nuclear project as a serious matter of nuclear weapon threat? In other words, is it appropriate that the leader country in nuclear bomb projects forbade other countries from having it too? Also since the Iraqi war, I would say that Bush’s authentications need to be questioned, because Iraq never had a destructive weapon as Bush said! Maybe North Korea simply wants to be recognized as a nuclear power, and they are assuming that it is the only thing which keeps them safe.
Secondly, is it necessary for the United Nations Security Council to put financial sanctions on North Korean government? I would say that once North Korea decided to carry out their nuclear weapon test, they had already prepared for its issues, including financial sanctions, and thus it seems unnecessary to solve the problem by financial way. We can imagine after a test by the North, a “domino effect” in which South Korea, Japan and perhaps other countries pursue their own nuclear project. Therefore, a dialogue solution might be needed, rather than financial sanctions, in order to lay down a common convention on all the countries involved in the nuclear area.

Hi Hannah, could you please tell us who you mean by “we”?[YSaerTTEW443543]

Yes …

could you please tell us who you mean by “we”?

Herc

I mean “my English class”

Hi Hannah,

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by ‘dialogue solution’? Who do you think will be the partners in that dialogue and what will be their interests?

Also, what type of English class are you attending and where?

why the United States has the right to massive killing weapons while deprving the rights of other countries? Even if North korea is carring out the test…why not?

I absolutely 100 % agree with you…

but why you expression looks so funny nigga!!!

I’m not a guy on the avatar…

the guy on the avatar looks good>>>>> a funny one

Actually, many South Korean don’t have interest …this serious problem.

North Korea knows that we (the US) wouldn’t use nukes on them (unless it’s a very small localized nuke, and then only on account of the direst conditions) because of their proximity to South Korea.

We also don’t want to piss off China. Quite frankly, when we used them in Japan… they were used to save millions of lives. A US invasion of Japan would likely have cost millions of Japanese lives and probably at least a hundred thousand US lives. The Japanese were prepared to fight to the death against such an invasion.

If someone were to use a nuke NOW, it could set off a domino effect. And nobody, not even Kim Jong-Il, wants something like that.

Nukes in the hands of terrorists… now that idea scares me.

The people of North Korea starve en masse while half their money is spent on the military. I sort of have a problem with that. There’s no telling how kind the Developed World would be to North Korea – get them in the trade loop; help them out with some aid, given generously and in good faith – if Kim Jong-Il would just relax a bit. We’re not going to nuke him.

I am very interested
Seriously …
Could anyone please explain me why the government of the US has the right to posess nuclear weapon and decide which Country has this right and which hasn’t…

p.s This is not a rhetorical question… I am very interested

It’s all about who will use it. I don’t think NK would use one. They’ll do some posturing to get some aid, but likely nothing more than that.

I think our main concern is really for one to get into the hands of terrorists groups – groups who hate the West and are sworn to try to destroy the West, with or without any actual provocation.

There’s so much political crap going on about NK, but I bet most don’t really think that NK would ever use one, except (got to be a caveat) in absolutely dire straits.

India vs. Pakistan might be a far greater threat than NK… though they seem content to fire (mostly harmless) artillery at each other across the Khatmia Pass (or whatever it is – the disputed territory?).

Dear Lord, I’ve lost it. The Khatmia Pass is in the Egypt/Saudi Arabia/Israel area.

I must have meant the Kashmir dispute (though that might be wrong as well).

India vs. Pakistan ? when you talked of India vs. Pakistan i suddenly remember they belonged to on country b4 but now…who should be responsible for it???

when the united states says South korea and iran are threats to the world…in fact iran and south korean say the united states is the greatest threat to themmmmmm…if there is not an america who is saying to get rid of communism every day, and plz remember it is the united states that owns the largest number of unclear wepons in the world, i don’t think there is any country who is willing to spend huge sums of money and time in testing weapons instead of developing their economyyyyyyy…

I understand that Iran or Korea can be dangerous for the US,but if We ask their citizens they say that the USA is a Country where the real danger comes from…
So where is the truth,I can’t understand…

in fact it is very easy to understand why the united States is a country the real danger comes from. The united states owns the strongest arms in the world and can destory other countries once he decides to do. Let’s look at iraque and Yugoslav and so on. isn’t it the united states that destoryed the two countries?
Iran and Korean understand they will meet the same ends without unclear weapons. Don’t you think a man who hates you and has a gun in his hands is a great threat to you? What you can do is trying to get another more destructive weapons to safeguard youself.
why the United States think such small and weak countries like Iran and korea are dangerous? I can’t understand.

Milosevic had just a bit to do with the former Yugoslavia… and those were (right?) mostly UN forces, weren’t they?
