Non-academic subjects at school should be removed?

Topic:

With the pressures on today’s young people to succeed academically, some people believe that non-academic subjects at school (eg: physical education and cookery) should be removed from the syllabus so that children can concentrate wholly on academic subjects.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Hi Kitosdad, here is my essay, please rate it for me!

What subjects that young students should learn at universities have been causing a lot of debates for decades. Some people prefer that all non-academic subjects such as physical subjects or cookery should be removed from curriculum at school. However, other people believe that the combination of non-academic subjects and academic subjects will benefits students more than students who learn only one kind of them.

Our education system not only tries to find the best way in educating people but also provide the best possible chance of doing well at school. In traditional curriculum that the most of schools still have been choosing to apply today, we provide students both non-academic and academic subjects with variety of subjects. This approach brings to students many choices to find out what subjects they like best or most suitable for them. We all know that we can do something best if we absolutely like it. The time at school will become boring if we are just staying at class, trying to absorb dry lessons with full of academic knowledge. The best form of education is that we should mix all subjects up, includes non-academic subjects such as sports, cooking, meta-work or some outside activities. Sports help our healthier and keep fit. If not we will have a obese and unfit generation in the future.

On the other hands, I totally understand the important of knowledge we learned at school and how it affects our life in the future. Normally, people with broad knowledge will have more opportunity to gain success. The more time students spend to focus on academic subjects the more chances they will get the better degrees when they are graduated from universities. As a result, they will easily find a good job with many promotions on their work. However, we must admit that there are many people are having success without academically minded. Forcing academic studies on students would lead to negative effects. Consequently, many students leave school too early.

To conclusion, in my views, to form a best education system, we should provide our students with many interesting subjects which are academic subjects and non-academic too. Both of them have the same important in our today’s syllabus.

With the pressure on today’s young people to succeed academically, some people believe that non-academic subject at school ( eg: physical education and cookery) should be remove from the syllabus so that children can concentrate wholly on academic subjects.

I not agree with that non-academic subject should be removed from schools. Even though people have succeed in things that they love most, I can assure you, that people well-trained in different subjects, can succeed more than people with limited knowledge. On other hand, the school time is one of the most important time in the children life, when them should be learn about subjects that they like and subject that they do not like as well. Finally I am pretty sure that the life doesn’t only consist in events that we can accept, but also in situations that we can not accept too.

“People that love what they are doing, can be successful people”; it is completely true. But in my knowledge, people well-trained in every aspect of the education can be counted among high educated people and can be more successful people than other trained in basic things. For example, if a corporation is seeking for trained-people in computation and they have several applicants. They will look for the high educated but if between them there are two with high grades. The hire people, will take a look at background and wide knowledge of applicants in different areas.

Other important reason is that the school time is one of the most value time in the children life. “It is time for to learn, to achieve goals, to do things that might you ever wont have the opportunity to do, for example to spend time learning about sewing, building or cooking. Those subjects are wonderful skills that could prepare you for the future. Even though children could not like now, but these subjects will be important in the adult life, when they will live alone.

Finally the life does not only consist in events that would love at the first instance but also life consist in events o situations that we can not accept in the whole. For that reason I agree that subjects that we like, must be mixed with subject that we do not like. Through this situation we can learn to accept different perspective or point of view contrasting with our though.

For all of the above mentioned, I can reach the conclusion that non-academic subjects should not be moved from school. Children have a fresh brain to learn whatever they want. Children can not think about future, but adults can think. Therefore is very important that we can think for them and give them the opportunity to learn the most wide skills that they can accept.
