My parent are/is simple man.

Which one is correct?

Hello:

  1. My parent [singular] IS a simple man.

a. A better sentence might be: My father is a simple man.

  1. My parents [plural] ARE simple people.

a. Or: My mother and father are simple people.

I agree with Jasmes’s suggestions. A native English speaker would not say ‘my parent…’ if they were speaking about only one of their parents. They would say ‘my mother…’ or ‘my father…’ as appropriate.
