Hi, Torsten !
I consulted a dictionary (Lingvo) and there that phrase is written as “to be quick in the uptake”
Is your version grammatical as well ?
Thanks

Hi Lost Soul
The expression is “quick on the uptake”. Your dictionary apparently has a typographical error.
