Meaning of the expression "For you, my door is always open"

Hi,

I would like to know in which context is used an expression similar to “For you, my door is always open”. Is that a common expression in UK?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, that expression is fine, it means
‘I am always willing to meet with you/talk to you/etc.’
‘I am available when you need me.’
‘You can come to me (with your problems/with your concerns/for a chat/for advice/etc.) at any time.’

Ciao Bev, thanks.

If you come to Milan, I will be happy to buy you a cup of tea.

We’ve had this conversation and decided wine would be more appropriate.

I quite agree. ;D
