Meaning of 'Swordsman... and ...To dip snout in (different) trough'

Part of a dialogue in Prison Break Season 4 Episode 9

While Detective Conor Mara is looking into a case of missing person, Mr. Blauner, he was explained by T-Bag about Blauner’s behaviour as follows:

T-Bag: It always seemed to me that Mr. Blauner was, how can I put this delicately, um, a swordsman.
You know what I mean?

Detective Mara: Actually, I don’t.

T-Bag:He might be dipping his snout into a different trough, and the fiancee is none the wiser.

Detective Mara: From what I’ve, uh, heard about him from his other co-workers, that doesn’t sound too likely.

Well, there are couple questions:

  1. What’s the slang meaning of ‘swordsman’ ?

  2. ‘To dip his snout into a different trough’ means ‘To see another woman’ ???

I’m looking forward to clarifications and examles to use the above.

Many Thanks.

He was someone who enjoyed having sex with many different women. It doesn’t mean he simply “saw” other women, but that he had sex with them.

Thanks Barb…D

May I also ask you to clarify the meaning of ‘none the wiser’?

In the above context, does it mean that he no longer recognize his fiancee, or his fiancee is not wise enough to know the fact that he have sex with other women??? :?:

‘To be none the wiser’ is a ready-made phrase. Here it means that his fiancée doesn’t know anything about his infidelities.

Thanks Conchita

I’m a bit wiser now!
