The adjectival phrase “with whom I had corresponded since I was 14” should occur right after the word it is modifying. Since “me” is the noun closest in proximity to the adjectival phrase, that is technically the phrase that it is modifying. (This is of course being picky, but an English teacher would make you correct it.)

“picky” here also means being difficult, as in nitpicking.

Hi,

The use here of picky suggests that you are being very particular or fussy about a grammatical point. It’s in line with the belief that when you answer the question: Who is that?, your answer should be: It is I and not as most people say: It’s me.
