meaning of "is said to be"

I’d like to get some help about the meaning of the expression “(…) is said to be (…)” in the following sentence, for exemple:

  • Dr. Hollywood is said to be the best surgeon in the matter of plastic surgery.

thanks.
regards, Abraão.

.
‘Is said to be’ = ‘is rumoured to be’; ‘it is generally thought that’.
.

That’s just what I thought about it.
Thanks for confirming it to me.

‘‘is considered’’?
thanks.

.
Yes, 'is considered (to be)’ also.
