meaning of cuddy

I’ve got some problem with the word “cuddy”. I find out somthing about it but I still don’t understand this sentence:

An artist may teach a class, a photographer may do weddings and a sports enthusiast may referee or caddy.

I find out only one connection with sport, it is some kinde of boat with a cuddy.

Please, help me to understand

The only time I have heard the word cuddy was as said in,“He is a cuddy-whiffer,” meaning, in football, he is a player who uses his left foot to kick the ball.

kitchen of a boat, small room, cabinet…I found these man!

Hello Katrowka.

There seems to be a confusion of the spelling in your question: ‘cuddy’ is from Cumbrian or Scots dialect meaning horse or donkey; it also means a small cabin or cupboard in a boat.

A caddie (or caddy) is the person who accompanies a golfer and carries his golf bag and clubs. He is a sort of assistant and he may be very knowledgeable. So in your sentence it means the sports enthusiast isn’t necessarily a sportsman, he can also take part as a referee or a (golf) caddy.
