I think the verb ‘to rest’ is intransitive so you don’t use it with an object. You can use it in such idiomatic phrases as ‘rest assured’.[YSaerTTEW443543]

Hi Pupil,
The verb ‘rest’ in your sentence is to ‘relax’ and whereas you can relax your head,elbows, legs and so on, you can’t do that with a book!
