'made it into newspapers’ vs 'made it to newspapers’

Hi,

I heard somebody saying the following sentence. I am not sure about the underlined part. Shouldn’t it be ‘it made it into/to newspapers?’

‘[color=darkblue]That was a really funny incidence, it made newspapers.’

Thanks,

MG.

Yes, “it made it into the newspapers” would be a common expression.

Hi Musicgold,

You could also say ‘it made the newspapers’.

Alan

Does it mean “it is reported by the newspapers”, Alan?

Thanks folks.

Hi Anna,

‘It made the newspapers’ means, as you say, it was reported in the newspapers - it actually reached the newspapers.

Alan

Thanks Alan. Have a nice day!
