The word locker is used in English as well as in German and in both languages it means completely different things. As you know, in English the word ‘locker’ is a noun meaning ‘a small, usually narrow storage compartment’ while in German it’s an adverb or adjective meaning ‘loose’, ‘relaxed’, ‘laidback’, ‘easy’, ‘casual’, ‘lax’, etc.
So, in Germany we are now talking about ‘Lockerung des Lockdown’ which sounds a bit strange because of the different connotations of the word ‘locker’.
