  1. If you don’t mean a particular group of cats, then the article as advised is not required. (So for example, if you are saying that it was cats that did this as opposed to any other animal then the original is correct.)

  2. What do you mean by ‘mature adolescent’? It seems to be either a contradiction or it could be misinterpreted.
    Adolescents are young people who have reached puberty. If that is what you mean, then do not use ‘mature’.
    ‘Mature asdolescents’ = adolescents with a mature outlook on life, not an older adolescent. However if they have a mature outlook, then they won;t need the influence of a moral education. They will already be morally sound.
    Also, note the indefinite article.
    Adolescents need a moral education (in order) to lead a good life.
