letting rip about rip offs

Last night, Bayern Munich fans were boycotting first five minutes of a Bayern v Arsenal game in London due to high ticket prices. The following tweet was something I can’t quite sort out. Sounds like they were praised for breaching the shyness of the English fans about them being cheated\overpriced. Does it stand?

“Well done Bayern Munich fans - hope they inspire ditching of English reserve for letting rip about rip offs, too!”

It’s congratulating them on their stance and saying that they hope it will inspire others to speak out and take a stand against rip-off prices.

‘English reserve’ isn’t ‘shyness’ really. It refers to the fact that people don’t speak out against such actions - they accept it as standard.
