AI said both are OK and the meanings are the same.

What exactly do you mean by “AI”? ChatGPT or another system? “Don’t leave behind your belongings.” sounds very unnatural.

#2 is definitely unnatural, but I can’t say why.

I think the phrasal verb ‘put something behind’ falls into the same category as the phrasal verb ‘make something up’. You can’t say “Please make up something” because the order has to be “verb – object --preposition”.

ChatGPT.
I insist #2 sounds strange.
But one of my friends says both are OK based on ChatGPT.
It’s so annoying.
Thank you again
