someone asked me to select the correct prepostion for the line
“the sun shines (in/at) the day”
“the moon shine (in/at) the night”
please advise on the correct prepostion.

The correct preposition is ‘in’:

The sun shines in the day.
The moon shines in the night. Note that you can also say ‘at night’.
