Lapse

Which is right?

There is always a lapse between the shipment date and the invoice date.

There is always a time lapse between the shipment date and the invoice date.

Is"time lapse" correct? I cannot find this phrase online

Thanks

There is always a lapse… is fine. It will be interpreted as a lapse in time anyway, so ‘time lapse’ is not needed, though that is also okay.
