Land now owned by US government

Shouldn’t the following phrase have the article ‘the’ before ‘US government’?

We were beat the second we flooded that land. Land now owned by US government.

Probably, but it’s very informal. I could see someone saying it that way. (Interesting that I can see a sound :slight_smile: )

The land is now owned by the US government.

I assume this is about some kind of flood control, like the TVA or something similar.
