Hi
I am reading an article about Rufous in Australia and saw the following words. Could anyone tell me what it means please?
It had also been an important food source, and there were concerns that any mala returned to the wild would be killed for the pot.
I guess killed for the pot means to kill those animals by human or wild life to be eaten, am I right?
Thanks in advance,
Swan
My guess it could be killed just to get the pot (slang for ‘marijuana’) from some Australian residents who value its meat.

I really don’t think it has to do with marijuana. As Swan said, it just means for the cooking pot:

‘killed for the pot’ = killed in order to cook it and eat it.
cooking pot - nothing to do with marijuana.
