keep it safe vs safely

Hello,

I’ve got a question :

She kept her dog safe .
She kept her dog safely .

Which is correct ?
or both will do ?

Thanks,
Good day!

Usually you would require the first sentence (She kept her dog secure and protected), but the second is also possible to indicate the manner in which she kept her dog. Usually there would be an additional phrase: She kept her dog safely on a lead.

She kept her treasures safe - she kept them secure and protected.
She kept her treasures safely locked away - she kept them locked away in a secure manner.

Thank you so much, CMD

The presentation is to the point !

Beautiful!
