'keep abreast of the times' means... tnx

Quote: Make yourself aware of changing conditions, keep abreast of the times, and change with them.

Hello, could you guys help me figure out the meaning of ‘keep abreast of the times’. I check abreast in dictionary and it says “along side each other/side by side” – and the times it’s quite unclear to me. If it says ‘keep abreast of the time’… I think I got it — but it says ‘times’ – so does this whole sentence mean…

Keep being aware of every change that will happen in your life, keep being aware of the changing time, and then keep on adapting with them. Adapt in each situations in each times to obtain what you are trying to reach.

Did I got it right? Thanks in advance^^

Ryan

More or less, though I would say:

Become aware of all the changes that happen, stay knowledgeable about what the trends and expectations currently are. Adapt along with the trends and expectations.

keep abreast of the times:
stay knowledgeable about the trends and expectations (etcetera) of modern society. If they change, be aware of it.

Nice, thanks to you it’s all clear now. Thanks so much Beeesneees! -_-

Can I say as below:
“Keep abreast of the times of what is happening around the world.”

That sounds garbled because ‘keep abreast of the times’ and ‘what is happening’ are not needed together. They mean the same thing.

Keep abreast of world events.

Thanks for the phrase.

In addition

Keep abreast of world events. or
Keep abreast of the world events.

Thanks

As I said:

You might also say ‘Keep abreast of events/what’s happening in the world.’
