Just learned a new word: consilience

I just came across the term “consilience” and realized it’s a new word for me :wink:

It’s a new word for me too. I had to look it up. It’s a specialized word. It wasn’t even in two out of four dictionaries that I checked.

I have never heard it, although the concept that the use of a number of different study approaches should lead to a better confirmation of a result seems rather basic.

I don’t see a compelling reason to use it.
