It or he: Who is he? - He is Mike. vs It's Mike.

Hello. Could you please tell me if all the examples below are correct?

-Who is he?
-He is Mike.

-Who is he?
-It’s Mike.

-Who is it?
-It’s Mike.

hey there ^^!!
umm just guessing
the last two r correct …
and the 1st one would b correct depends on the situation…

What sort of context? Are you pointing to someone who just walked in? Asking who the person’s new boyfriend is?

Another possibility is “That’s Mike” but I don’t know the context so I don’t know the answer.

I’m asking generally if all the sentences are grammatically correct and possible to say.

Hi, le me introduce myself, I m Joao Fonseca, a Brazilian. I m sure that when you ask about someone you use the WHO IS. so as you wrote, who is he? I reply he is…
You can not ask who is he? and give a reply like this. it´s mike. you use it for things, or animal. orthewide I shoudl ask you like this. Who are you? I am Mike. I guess someone much clever than me might confirm, one idea I can tell you that helped a lo was, study very hard the verb to be.

-Who is he?
-He is Mike.

-Who is he?
-It’s Mike.

-Who is it?
-It’s Mike.

They are all techincally correct, but you’re unlikely to hear “He is Mike” as a response. If you’re pointing to someone and ask “Who’s he?” You’ll hear “That’s Mike.”

I agree. The answer depends on the question.
Who is he ? needs to be answered with ‘he is Mike’.
Who is it? It’s Mike (usually said when the person is not present with them)

As I said in my post above, I do not agree.

like you said in your post, ‘he is mike’ is technicaly correct but you dont hear people say it cos its rude to Mike if he is with them.

First, thank you for your answers.

Second, I’d like to give some more specific examples then.

I have a picture with a family. The family consists of 4 people:
George - the father
Mike - the son
Mary - the mother
Sally- the daughter

1st situation:
I show Mike on a picture with a family and ask:

-Who is he?
-He is Mike.

-Who is he?
-It is Mike.

-Who is it?
-It is Mike.

Who is it?
He is Mike

Are all the examples correct and possible?

2nd situation:
I show George on the same picture and ask:

-Is he Mike?
-No, he is not.

-Is he Mike?
-No, it is not.

-Is it Mike?
-No, it is not.

-Is it Mike?
-No, he is not.

Are all the examples correct and possible here too?

A situation when introducing people personally would be quite different, I suppose.
For example:
-This is my friend Mark.
or
-It’s my brother Peter.

and questions:

  • Who is you firend? (you came with)
    or
-Could you introduce me your friend?

That way should be better for introducing people personally, I think.

I will be grateful for your answers. Cheers : )

Could somebody please mark incorrect sentences in the first and second situation?
