It don't matter if you're black or white.

Hi,

Yes.

As you may have guessed, I’m talking about the song by Michael Jackson.
In one of His hits titled ‘black and white’, there’s a line goes:

“…It don’t matter if you’re black or white”
I believe the phrase ‘it don’t matter’ is a colloquial phrase?

and;

“…and a miracle has happened tonight”
I wonder if we can use the word ‘tonight’ with the present perfect tense?
Because I’ve been told that we can’t use the present perfect tense with specific time expressions such as: yesterday, today, tonight, 8 o’clock, etc.

Sorry MJ, it’s for grammar sake. P
Thanks …

It don’t matter… is not correct grammar, as is often the case with song lyrics. Correctly written it would be ‘It doesn’t matter…’

However, ‘a miracle has happened tonight’ is widely accepted as being correct.

Got it. Thanks.
