Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Globalization is increasing at a faster pace in term of education, technology and personal or social relations with others. In all these advances, literacy is one of the key factors, which comes from reading and writing. Therefore, I have opinion that the ability of reading and writing is more important in the modern world than in the past.
First of all, in my view, the ability to read and to write is basic requirement for communication in today’s world. Most of the time, nowadays people communicate with each other in form of e-mails or messages rather than contacting in person or via telephone ,which were used decades back. Indeed, these forms of communication are easier, faster and convenient than those of used in past. This can be gained if we are adept enough to write and to read. Thus, it is important to have ability of reading and writing.
Along with communication, reading and writing skills are ways of expressing our emotions. People with physical disabilities who cannot speak or hear, reading and writing is effective way to express their feelings. For instance, once I visited to an event which was conducted for physically disabled people in Library. I was fascinated by the presentation of the poems and the articles written by those people. My eyes felt with tears after reading their feeling in the form of poems and article, which was possible due to skills of writing and reading. Without those skills, it would have not been possible for them to exhibit their feelings. Therefore, I feel the ability to read and to write are essential to express our emotions.
In conclusion, I would say modern life has lots of challenges, and to deal with them we should have basic skills such as reading and writing. To communicate effectively and to express our emotions, writing and reading skills are mandatory today.
Hi Kattie, i thought this was a pretty good essay. I really wish you had added a specifice example or two to your first paragraph though. Your writing is clear and understandable, but you did have some errors here and there and your “ability of reading and writing” sounded pretty unnatural. Overall, I would rate this one a 3.5 out of 5.
