Imagine a situation if you are at school among your friends and you’ve decided to leave school for home. Will it be correct to say ‘I go home’?
“I am going home.”
Ok. And in what situations should I use ‘I go home’?

You can say ‘I (usually) go home with my friends.’ But if you want to go home at the moment you should say ‘I am going home’ (Я иду домой). One more point: you can tell your friend ‘go home’ but that’ll be an Imperative Mood.
