Dear Ralf

Vocabulary building is very important and very demanding task. You pick up a lot of words as you go along (in passing). This is why it is important to expose yourself to the English language wherever you can - read, listen to sound clips, write forum entries etc.
A good way to improve your vocabulary is writing down collocations. A collocation is a combination of different word types (i.e. adjective-noun combination). If you write down a phrase like ‘the perpetual student’, you will remember the word perpetual describing a seemingly endless task. Perpetual students never finish learning and want to do more than what is necessary to obtain their goals
