Interviews are not a reliable method to select what people to hire and other methods are better. Do you agree or disagree?

Whether interviews are trusted measure for selection of right candidate is a heated topic of much debate. Some people assert that while interview a peron cannot be judged in all aspects demanded by the job. The proponents of this viewpoint posit that other methods are more appropriate to evaluate a person suitable for the hiring. However, despite of these arguments, as far as I am concerned interview is the best method to select right person to hire.

To begin with, interviewing people is the traditional method for selecting people to hire from centuries. It is indisputable that interviewing a candidate is an art and selection of questions plays major role in evaluation. Moreover, understanding the body language of candidates’ is also very important in process of interview. For instance, my brother , a HR consultant, has shared that while taking an interview for the post of production manager in a firm, there was a person who has mentioned a lot of experience in his resume’ but he was not confident enough in replying the questions related to his field. In addition, the candidates’ face expression were also opposite of what he was claiming, that’s why they have rejected that candidate. This example affirms that the right interviewing techniques are more important for selection of a person to hire.

Secondly, while opting the other methods of selection, the candidate may falsifies the expertise and achieve more points than other candidates who actually deserves the job.For example, in group discussion for selection of a candidate, a person may take more ideas from other participants and deliver them in a better manner without knowing much about the subject. However, in an interview, a candidate will only be discussing his own experience which will allow the interviewer to evaluate him in better manner.

To recapitulate, interviews are the best and most reliable way to select the right person to hire. The advancement in techniques of interview will allow the interviewer to excel his job.
