Integrated Writing : Risk-taking Personality

Both the reading passage and the lecture discuss the risk-taking personality. The reading passage gives some explanations of definition, how people do unnecessary actions, and what their motivation are. However, the lecture casts doubt on the idea for some points.

First, the reading passage says that people with “universal risk-taking personality” engage in risky activities in all aspects of their lives that endangering theirselves, their families and friends. On the other hand, the lecture tells that the risk-taking people perform the risk actions for some reasons. For instance, an invesment banker and a biker have different reasons for their actions.

Next, the lecture mentions that people who do dangerous actions don’t relate with bad habit and willingness to suicide. Furthermore, by their attitude they can experience and be success people. However, the reading passage argues this notion.

Finally, the reading explains that there is no reward for some extrem actions. People who engage in some dangerous activities do have no reasons, want to hide their inadequacy, and want to get attention from others. In contrast, the professor argues that they can have a physical and psycological reward. For example, a sky diver will arise in a journal and has a pleasurable experience. He will gain high self esteem, self confidence, social and financial advantages.
