Well, I was born and raised in the US, and I honestly don’t have a clue what some of those mean. These do make sense (at least to me):
spring formal: A formal dance at a high school or college that takes place in the spring. Here, formal means the boys and girls dress up in nice clothes.
Underoos: A brand of kids’ underwear that usually has playful themes like Superman, Spiderman, etc.
