inconceivable vs implausible

Hello

I’ve looked “inconceivable and implausible” up in the dictionary and I’ve found out that both are synonymous. But I was wondering if inconceivable and implausible are interchangeable all the time. Is there a slight difference when it comes to their meaning and usage?

Thanks

I would say there was a slight difference between those two.
‘Inconceivable’: an idea which cannot be conceived - in other words it’s impossible to imagine or think of such a thing.
‘Implausible’ an idea which is unreasonable and unlikely to be true - it is possible to imagine it or think of it, but it doe not seem that it can be true.

Thanks again B
