In the Situation 2 or In Situation 2?

Do we say In the situation 2 or In situation 2?

"In (the) situation 2, where the father and son were camping out, there was a problem they had to find a solution to. Using the information you already have about it, write a short paragraph.

I’m a not a native English speaker, but IN THE SITUATION sounds a little not natural.

Thank you.

It sounds a bit unnatural to me as well.

If you change it around a little, to make situation a general term rather than a label, then you would need “the”.

A: “In situation 2, …” (I would be tempted to capitalize “Situation”.)
B: “In the second situation, …”

'In situation 2 (two), where father and son were camping out…"
‘The’ is redundant and there’s absolutely no need to capitalize ‘situation’.

Hope this helps.

Why would you be tempted to capitalise ‘situation’? Are you sure you’re an American? If not, a dog a day keeps the doctor away?

I strongly suspect that “Situation 2” is a label used previously in the text. This would seem to be the only way the sentence makes sense.

It bloody well doesn’t have anything to do with labels and if it has, Thomas47 should have mentioned that. Not that it’s any of my business, but are you drunk? If you are, cut down on the booze a bit, because I really love you…perhaps I should too…but no, no, no, I’m in denial, you know…
