in the end vs at the end

Hi friends,
Can you please help me out with with following:
I cant figure out when to use which preposition.

A: I found it in the end of the book / at the end of the book.
B: He is sitting in the end of the classroom / at the end of the classroom.
C: I have seen this scene in / at the beginning of the movie.

I found it at the end of the book.
He is sitting at the end of the classroom.
I have seen this scene at the beginning of the movie.

Hi Baxo,

‘In the end’ is an expression of time that stands alone and suggests ‘finally’ ‘in conclusion’. ‘In the beginning’ is also an expression of time that stands alone and suggests ‘initially’ ‘to start with’. If you want to use a prepositional phrase with ‘end’ and ‘beginning’, you say ‘at the end of’ and ‘at the beginning of’ and these expressions are used for time and place as in:

At the beginning of the afternoon/ of the street …

At the end of the day/of the book …

Alan

Thank you for help Beees and Alan
