I’m wondering if it makes any sense to you if I say “in the early of this year”? I searched it via google, but I didn’t find it was used by anybody at anywhere. Please help me out. Thanks.
Hey Infin1ty, how have you been? I’m afraid “in the early” is not possible. You could say “earlier this year”, but it depends on what you want to express.
Hi Steven, long time no see. I’m fine and still struggling with my English. How about you? It’s really nice to see you again.
Recently, I am kinda addicted to PC power suppy units and I started posting posts on a tech site called Jonnyguru using the name of Duckula since September. I came up with “in the early this year” when I was introducing a review of PSU which was posted on January, 22, 2010. If “in the early of this year” doesn’t make sense, what about “in the beginning of this year”?
Oh that is cool, I have used that site from time to time. I have heard that it is important to have a good PSU of a reliable brand, to prevent damage to your computer over time owing to fluctuating voltages. I bought a Coolermaster 520 watt when I built my PC and it is doing fine.
Yes, “in the beginning of this year” sounds OK to me. You could also say “early this year”.
What a coincidence! XD
That’s right. It can never be overemphasized how important a good PSU is. And you are not going to regret spending more money on a decent PSU.
I bet the psu you bought is a Coolermaster Real Power M 520W which has a 80Plus badge on it. Beacuse it’s the only 520W modle from CM according to PSUdatabase. By the way, PSUdatabase is another handy site I usually visit.

(a bit off topic now, hehe)
edit: I forgot to say thank you!
Yup, that’s the one! When I built my first PC, I was told to watch for some properties of PSUs. I think they were: 80%+ efficiency, sufficient power output allowed on a single channel (what are they called again?), and something about a special voltage stabilizing thing. I also did some test to calculate the max power output I should ever require. Nice database site you have there! I do so pity all the poor Apple users who have no choice but to accept someone else’s choice of components… then again, they usually buy a new computer every couple of years, so that they won’t even notice if their Apple breaks down after 4 years… oh dear, now I am Apple-bashing again… I must be stopped…
Rail. Single-rail/multi-rail.
lol. I can’t afford any product from Apple. Even I can, I won’t buy them because I’m used to windows and it works for me, why bother changing to a platform that I’m not familiar with? Besides I think it’s strange to run windows on an Apple though it can. XD
Right, rail it was!
With Apple, you pay ~90% more than for a normal computer with similar specs, most of which is for the brand name alone. I must admit their software is not bad, though.
Absolutely right! Imagine that the sweatshop foxconn is busying producting the useless ipad for Apple. Imagine how badly the workers at foxconn were/are screwed that they jumped from the roof one by one…lol. I strayed too far.
Wow I only read that story just now, I had no idea Foxconn was that bad. As if we needed another reason not to buy an Ipad, hehe. Let’s hope China puts more speed behind the reform of worker conditions - I hard they have already slowly been improving, but it could be faster. Incidentally, I noticed that Google’s top results on these suicides were written by Asians. Their English was not bad, but I spotted several mistakes; so watch out whenever you are reading stories in English about Asian subjects.
Hmm. hope so. Actually, I tried my best to steer clear from materies written in English by non-native speakers(especially Chinese). You know, one can hardly get over his mother tongue when he’s learning another language. The process is he thinked what he wanted to say in his native language first and then translated it to English. At lease that’s the case with me. XD
