in or at (the Board)

Hi there,

I was wondering which preposition should be used in the sentence:
“…to be a member at / on / in the Advisory Board…”

Thanks in advance,

hatcecik

Hi Hatcecik,

Usually someone is described as being a member ‘on a board’ ‘on a committee’ ‘on a panel’ ‘on a council’ and so on.

Alan

the correct one is "to be a member on "
I think it’s the write answer !!!

Thank you very much Alan for your reply,

Best regards

According to the CORPUS OF CONTEMPORARY AMERICAN ENGLISH and the BYU-BNC: BRITISH NATIONAL CORPUS the correct way is:

to be on the board
to be a member of the board

Thanks Milanya so much for correcting me
Best regards…
