in contrast with or in contrast to

Which one is it used(in contrast with or in contrast with) ? Is there a difference between them?

I assume you meant to ask about the difference between “in contrast with” and “in contrast to”, per the subject line.

Both are used, and I can’t think of any situation where there would be a difference in meaning. I personally prefer “to”, and I’d guess “to” is more common.

Yes, the difference between in contrast to and in contrast with.
My English teacher said that ‘in contrast with’ is behaving as a verb: His jacket contrasts with his plain pants; and ‘in contrast to’ it’s behaving as a noun : His jacket stands in contrast to his jeans.

I would like to know if they are only used like this.

I think you are getting confused between the phrasal verb “contrast with” and the expression “in contrast with”. In the sentence “His jacket contrasts with his plain pants”, “contrasts” is indeed a verb, but this is not a use of “in contrast with” as you originally asked about. In the expression “in contrast with”, “contrast” is a noun.

Now I’ve got it.My mistake, thank you for clearing it for me.
