In a sense means?

Hello teachers,

  1. “She arrived early in order to get a good seat.” means “She arrived early with the purpose/intention of getting a good seat.” ?

  2. “It is in a sense an era…” What does it mean?

  3. “New countries are being discovered.” means “New countries are being found.” ?

Many thanks

I agree with your interpretations in #1 and #3.
As far as #2 goes, “in a sense” means “in a way” or “in a manner of speaking” or “so to say”.
