Did the first sentence use subjective?
Can I rewrite #1 as #2? If it is OK, which sentence is better?

I am sure that other posters will soon answer you.
I just wanted to respectfully remind you that the term is “subjunctive”:
“Your son is always late to class. I suggest that he BE here on time every day if he wishes to be a student at this school!”
James
Thank you James for pointing that out and your example!
In BrE I think #2 would be more usual in everyday language. #1 is also valid but feels quite formal to me.
Thank you Dozy!
