I'll just stick this onto the cover of the album

Woman: Say cheese.

Man: Cheese. What’s cheese got to do with it?

Woman: Well, when you say cheese, you show your teeth, cheese, and you smile. Oh, come on don’t be shy. There’s no need to be embarrassed about having your photograph taken. Just say cheese. … That’s it. Finally. Ha, ha, ha.

Man: Why did you want a photo of me anyway?

Woman: To put on the front of the photo album.

Man: Oh, yes. The story of Chips.

Woman: With your picture on the cover. It’ll make a nice souvenir of everything you’ve learned.

Man: Oh, uhum.

Woman: Now, let’s see how this picture came out. Hm, not bad. See, at least you’re smiling.

Man: Yea.

Woman: I’ll just stick this onto the cover of the album.

Man: Ok. Oh, oh, look at all the pictures here.

I’ll just stick this onto the cover of the album.

1- What does “just” in this sentence?

  • Does it mean “now” or something else?

Why did you want a photo of me anyway?

2- What does “anyway” in this sentence?

  • Does it mean “at all” or something else?

Thank you

The word “just” can be used in a lot of ways. Sometimes it’s used in almost opposite ways. In the above sentence, it’s uses to imply that it’s simple.

I will simply stick this onto the cover.

It can also mean something like:

I will go ahead and stick this on the cover.

In this case it means both. It means simply, but it also means go ahead or now.
If you use the word now then the structure needs to change.

Now I will stick this on the cover. (preferred)
or
I will now stick this on the cover.

This means something like “By the way”.

By the way, why do you want a photo of me?
