If I don't have a shirt to wear it under

:blossom: In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. :blossom:

Hi!

Store Keeper: Now, are you going to buy any underwear or not? Because I’m a very busy person toady.
Man: No, I can’t buy any underwear.
Store Keeper: And why not?
Man: Because I don’t want to buy any shirts or pants.
Store Keeper: And what does that have to do with it?

Man: Because I can’t buy an undershirt if I don’t have a shirt to wear it under, ←
and I can’t buy underpants if I don’t have pants to wear them under. ←
Now that makes sense, doesn’t it? Ha, ha, ha.

to wear it under

What does “to” mean here?

Does it mean “in order that” or something else?

Thank you

No, that’s not what it means. You use a to-infinitive and not a bare infinitive to make your sentence grammatically correct.

You spelled ‘today’ wrongly.
