The given line graph illustrates how many trips abroad that UK inhabitants made for holidays, business, family visits and other purposes from 1989 to 2001 while the table graph gives information about the quantity of trips in total for the same period.

Overall, it is clear to see that the predominant purpose of trips was holidays; in addition, trips for holidays and family visits witnessed a significant growth while trips used for business kept stable, and other purposes declined slightly during the period. Moreover, the number of trips during the period inclined rapidly from 47 million to 61 million of trips.

In 1989, the number of trips for holidays stood at 30 million. Surprisingly, this figure bombed to 50 million in the end of 1998 before decreasing to 40 million in 2001. As the quantity of trips for the purpose of family visits, the number registered a gradual rise of about 5 million from 1992 to 2001 after reducing minimally by about 1 million in the first period.

Although there were two gradual increases by about 2 million from 8 million in the number of trips for business and from 6 million in that for other purposes, these numbers fell down to 8 million and to under 2 million respectively.
