Idiom: You came through a clutch

So, what exactly does the idiom ‘to come through a clutch’ mean? Here is the dialogue I’ve came across it:

“So, I know it’s been a beat, but I just wanted to say thank you for savin’ my ass. You came through a clutch”.

Given the context, it probably means something like “You risked a lot / put your life on the line for me”.

It might be “came through in a clutch”.

You came through when it was difficult, important, critical or in a timely manner.

“Clutch hitter” is a baseball term with a similar meaning.
