I would have ended up waiting in the meeting room

Context:
Initially the meeting was scheduled at 9 am.
But later it was changed to 11 am and I was not aware of this change.
later after some time, Alex casually told me that meeting is moved to 11 am, not at 9 am.
I said “Thanks for your update, else I would have ended up waiting in the meeting room”.

Is the sentence above correct?

Thanks!

It would be more natural to say ‘otherwise’ instead of ‘else’.
Or
“Thanks for the update.” Then jokingly say, “I might have waited for two hours for everyone to show up.”

Agree with ‘otherwise’ and then possibly - I would have ended up waiting for the meeting in vain!
