I wonder something about "would" (again)

“Where’d you get that?”

From the movie “Ratatouille”

I saw this sentence from the scene which the rat cooked omelet for the boy. The sentence is used when the boy asked the rat where he got the spice.

Another case I found in TV series “Friends”

the characters always greet their friends by using the sentence “How’d it go?”

I know that “I’d” stands for “I would” but I don’t get that why they didn’t use “did” instead of “would”

I’d be grateful if you could explain to me.
Thank you

They did use did.

'd can stand for did or would.

“Where’d you get that?” means, “Where did you get that?”
“How’d it go?” means, “How did it go?”
