I’ve got a question to be answered.

I’ve been there three times.

What is the difference between the two?

“I went there three times,” means that during some specific limited time period in the past I went there.

“I have been there three times,” means that sometime between the beginning of the universe and now, I went there. In this case, when the event happened is not important.
