I spoke to you on the telephone
or
I spoke to you over the telephone
which one is correct from above two

I am glad you posted this question, I always hesitate when it comes down to selecting the right preposition in this sentence, I would love to read an answer to understand the difference in meaning (if any) or when to apply either one.

Both of them are correct. There is no difference between them.
