Hi,

I read a dialog like this:
A: I hope he hasn’t failed his exam.
B: I hope so, too.
My question is: Is B’s reply correct? Can B also say : I hope not. or I hope not, either.

Bs reply is correct.

‘I hope not’ would be confusing at the very least.
