I have an appointment today vs. I'm having an appointment today

Please tell me the difference between:

I have a dentist appointment today.

I’m having a dentist appointment today.

Thanks

This sentence sounds natural.

Sounds not as natural as the first sentence because there is no need for the present progressive here.

I have an appointment with the dentist today. (Is this sentence acceptable?)

Yes, it’s fine.
You might say “…with my dentist today.” If you like.
