I Had spoken to him vs I have spoken to him.

I had spoken to him this morning and I have spoken to him this morning. Is it appropriate to use the specific time with the first one? such as I had spoken with him this ‘morning’?. Or is it not good to construct I had spoken to him this morning?. Please assist me. Thanks

Usually you would just say “I spoke to him this morning”.

“I have spoken to him this morning” is possible, and I suppose connects that event more closely with the present (in terms of its consequences or effects, for example), but the present perfect is usually unnecessary.

“I had spoken to him this morning” does not seem likely.
