I finish my work. vs I am finished with my work.

What is the difference b/w two below?

  1. I finish my work.
  2. I am finished with my work.

Thanks.

Phoo, I have faced with this situation before and I do not know why. My context is

Well, I start working in the early morning and I’ll be finished at lunch time.

Hi, Anna.

You can also say that I’ll finish it at lunch time, can’t you?
ā€œfinishā€ in this case is transitive verb, so you need object(work or it).
But if you use ā€œfinishedā€, you don’t need object as it is an adjective.

These useges are different, yes I know but
I just don’t see any differences in their meanings.
